The Everyday Reality
You’re running a local business. You are busy
Running a local business demands your time and attention. While there are many opportunities available through councils, hospitals, universities, clubs, manufacturers and other major organisations, finding local tenders, contract opportunities and procurement opportunities can be difficult and time-consuming.
As a result, many Hawkesbury businesses miss out on valuable supplier opportunities simply because they don’t hear about them early enough or don’t have access to the right decision-makers.
OUR SOLUTION
The Chamber’s Role
To address this challenge, the Hawkesbury Chamber of Commerce is helping bridge the gap through a practical initiative inspired by Community Wealth Building principles.
Rather than leaving businesses to search for local contracts, tenders, requests for quotations and purchasing opportunities on their own, we connect local suppliers directly with major buyers and organisations committed to local procurement.
By doing so, we make it easier for Hawkesbury businesses to discover business opportunities, build relationships and compete for local work.
Our Goal
Our goal is simple: to help Hawkesbury businesses find, apply for and win meaningful local work.
Through this platform, businesses gain visibility of upcoming tenders, procurement opportunities, service requirements and supplier registration opportunities in one central location.
Consequently, you spend less time searching for contract opportunities and more time focusing on what you do best: growing your business.
HOW YOU BENEFIT
Receive Relevant Opportunity Alerts
Register your business profile and receive email notifications when local tenders, procurement opportunities, supplier opportunities or contract opportunities match your business type.
Connect with Local Buyers
Connect directly with organisations that are actively seeking local suppliers and are committed to purchasing from Hawkesbury businesses whenever possible.
Grow Your Business
Most importantly, you’ll gain access to opportunities that can help secure new work, generate qualified business leads, establish valuable partnerships and expand your local footprint.
Why Local Procurement Matters
Every contract awarded to a local business creates benefits that extend far beyond the original purchase.
When organisations buy locally, more money is reinvested through local wages, local suppliers and local services. As a result, jobs are supported, supply chains are strengthened, and more economic value remains within the Hawkesbury.
Furthermore, research into the local multiplier effect shows that spending with local independent businesses can generate additional economic activity as those dollars continue to circulate throughout the community.
Therefore, supporting local procurement, local purchasing and supplier engagement is about more than winning contracts. It’s about building a stronger, more resilient local economy for everyone.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Building a Stronger Hawkesbury Economy
This isn’t just policy. It’s practical action.
By connecting local capability with local demand, we help create a stronger circular economy where businesses, organisations and communities all benefit.
In turn, more work stays local, more local suppliers win contracts, more businesses grow, and more investment remains within the Hawkesbury.
Ultimately, this initiative helps ensure local businesses have every opportunity to benefit from local spending, local procurement opportunities, supplier contracts and local demand, creating lasting prosperity across our region.
